As a resident or land owner in Sugar Creek, you can obtain 4 permits each year to use the Courtney Ridge Landfill at no cost. Here are the criteria for obtaining a permit:
- All materials for the landfill must be from the Sugar Creek address where you reside, or the property located in Sugar Creek.
- City utilities must be current and up to date.
- You must bring your paid receipt as proof of payment.
There are certain items that are prohibited from the landfill. Please contact Public Works for a complete list.

The City of Sugar Creek is a member of the Regional Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program, a service coordinated by the MARC Solid Waste Management District in partnership with the City of Kansas City, MO., and Lee’s Summit, MO.
Residents have year-round access to the safe disposal of unwanted products such as paint, lawn and garden chemicals, automotive fluids, batteries, florescent bulbs and housecleaners. Business waste is not accepted.
Residents can access the permanent facilities in Lee’s Summit and Kansas City and attend any mobile events scheduled from April through October.
